Haier established laboratory for healthy air innovations in New Zealand
Haier on May 14 announced the establishment of its joint R&D center for healthy air innovations with the University of Auckland, which is the highest-ranked university in New Zealand and enjoys great reputation around the world. The founding of the labs is against the backdrop of ever deteriorating environment confronting human beings. On May 2, the World Health Organization released a report on global air quality that about 7 million people died each year as the result of air pollution.
Haier wishes to integrate the resources in the South Hemisphere and develop the most ideal air solution, through the technical superiority of Fisher & Paykel, a local brand acquired by Haier in 2012, in motors and fans, and the impressive achievements that the University of Auckland has made in comfortable airflow.
In the IoT era, air conditioners are merely the carrier, and what users really need is clean air. While major competitors in industry are still focusing on manufacturing air conditioners for basic air conditioning, Haier adheres to the philosophy of “selling air”, which earns the company great reputation worldwide. In April this year, Haier, working with the University of Geneva, established its first overseas laboratory outside China for healthy air innovations, with a special focus on research of “figuring out what healthy air is”. The lab in New Zealand will be used for “developing healthy air technology”.
